Humanistic Play Therapy

One-on-one therapy

Water Play Therapy
One-on-one and parent-child therapy

Water Play Therapy is a new therapeutic approach, combining the sensory and relational benefits of water-based experiences with the core principles of humanistic play therapy. It brings together the benefits of water, movement and play to support children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence and relationships.

Sessions are delivered one-on-one by a qualified Play Therapist. Working in the water, the therapist follows each child’s lead, helping them explore their feelings, build trust and develop a sense of safety at their own pace.

Grounded in humanistic play therapy principles, Water Play Therapy may be helpful for children who experience anxiety around water, sensory or movement needs, difficulties with emotional regulation, or challenges with trust and relationships. It can also support families who would like to strengthen their connection with their child.

The program recognises that every child has their own way of experiencing and making sense of the world. Through movement, sensory exploration and child-led play, children have opportunities to express themselves, try new things and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Where appropriate, parents can be involved in sessions, creating opportunities to build trust, share positive experiences and strengthen the parent-child relationship.

Water Play Therapy is about helping children feel safe, understood and connected, using the unique environment of water and play to support their individual needs.
